Best BBQ on the Space Coast

Wood smokers, brisket by the pound, and boudin egg rolls — Brevard's best BBQ

Real BBQ requires conviction. You can't fake the time, you can't shortcut the smoke, and you can't substitute technique for patience. The places on this list understand that. They're doing it the right way — wood smokers, long rests, the kind of bark on brisket that only comes from hours in the heat. BBQ in Brevard County is better than you might expect, and these spots are the proof.

1Cryderman's BBQ — The Best in Brevard

Cryderman's BBQ in Cocoa Village is, without much debate, the best BBQ spot in Brevard County. This is Texas-style execution with Florida product — beef brisket that's been given the long smoke it needs, collard greens made with house-made sausage that could stand on their own as a main course, and a seasonal bread pudding that turns the dessert conversation into an argument.

Meats are sold by the pound, which is how it should be at a serious BBQ operation. The smoke ring on the brisket is real. The fat is rendered properly. The bark is where it should be. If you've been skeptical about Space Coast BBQ, Cryderman's is the cure. Located in the heart of Cocoa Village, it's easy to add to any Cocoa Village day.

2Cajun Soul — Louisiana Heat in Brevard

Cajun Soul in Cocoa takes the BBQ and Southern tradition and runs it through Louisiana — po'boys, étouffée, jambalaya, and live crawfish boils when the season is right. This is cheerful, family-friendly, and legitimately excellent food in a format Brevard County doesn't have enough of.

The boudin egg rolls deserve special mention — a wildly successful fusion of Louisiana boudin sausage inside a crispy egg roll wrapper. They shouldn't work as well as they do, but they're one of the best bites in all of Brevard County. Don't skip them. The jambalaya is proper — not the red tomato stuff that passes for it elsewhere, but actual New Orleans brown jambalaya.

Rating: 4.6 stars and climbing. This is one of Brevard's best new restaurants by any measure.

3Sugar Shack BBQ — Titusville

Titusville needed a serious BBQ option, and Sugar Shack arrived in 2025 to fill the void. The wood smoker is real, the approach is Texas-inspired, and the results are consistently good. Fast-casual format keeps prices accessible and lines moving, making it practical for the KSC visitor crowd and Titusville locals alike.

The brisket is the thing to order. The beans are house-made and properly seasoned. For a no-frills, all-substance BBQ experience in north Brevard, Sugar Shack delivers. It's newer than the other spots on this list and still finding its full stride, but the bones are right.

4Hemingway's Tavern — The Southern Outlier

Hemingway's Tavern isn't a BBQ spot per se, but it belongs on a list of Brevard's best Southern-influenced restaurants. The downtown Melbourne tavern has the kind of octopus appetizer and Cuban-influenced dishes that show a kitchen thinking about Southern and Caribbean flavors simultaneously.

For those who like their Southern food with a broader perspective than just BBQ, Hemingway's is the move. The neighborhood tavern atmosphere makes it one of the most consistently enjoyable dining experiences in downtown Melbourne.

💡 Local Tips

  • Cryderman's often sells out of brisket by early afternoon — arrive before noon for the best selection or call ahead
  • Cajun Soul's crawfish boils are seasonal (spring) and sell out fast — follow their social media for announcements
  • BBQ by the pound vs. plates: get the pounds for more flexibility and usually better value
  • Cocoa Village makes a great BBQ day trip — Cryderman's lunch, explore the village, Dirty Oar Beer Company for a craft beer finish

BBQ on the Space Coast is real. Cryderman's is doing the kind of patient, proper barbecue that would hold up anywhere in Texas. Cajun Soul is bringing Louisiana heat to Brevard in a way that the county sorely needed. Taken together, these spots prove that good BBQ isn't a geography thing — it's a conviction thing. Brevard has the conviction.
