In what SpaceX CEO Elon Musk called "just the beginning," the aerospace company completed three successful Falcon 9 launches from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in a single week โ a new record for the Space Coast.
The rapid-fire launch cadence began Monday with a Starlink mission carrying 23 satellites to low Earth orbit, followed by a commercial resupply mission to the International Space Station on Wednesday, and capped off with a national security payload on Friday evening.
"When we see three launches in a week, it's a reminder that the Space Coast isn't just a historic name โ it's the future of American spaceflight happening right in our backyard." โ Dale Ketcham, Space Florida
For Brevard County residents, the launches have become a source of community pride. Hundreds gathered along the Indian River Lagoon and at Jetty Park to watch each launch, with local restaurants and bars hosting "launch watch" events.
Economic Impact
The increased launch tempo has ripple effects throughout the local economy. Hotels in Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach report near-capacity bookings during launch windows, while restaurants along A1A see significant upticks in business.
The Brevard County Tourism Development Council estimates that each launch brings an average of 15,000 visitors to the area, generating approximately $4.2 million in direct economic impact.
What's Next
SpaceX has permits for up to 120 launches from Florida in 2026. Combined with launches from United Launch Alliance, Blue Origin's growing presence, and Relativity Space's operations, the Space Coast is on track for its busiest year ever.
The next launch is scheduled for Tuesday at 7:42 PM EST โ a Falcon Heavy mission carrying a communications satellite. The best viewing spots include Space View Park in Titusville, Jetty Park in Cape Canaveral, and along the beaches of Cocoa Beach.
